Bonnaroo DVD on the way

Radiohead

So I believe the general consensus is that Radiohead’s epic 2 1/2 hour set at this year’s Bonnaroo Festival was one of 2006’s best shows by the band, if not the best. Many of us weren’t lucky enough to be there so the recent news that a DVD of the band’s performance may be on the way is great news. Thom certainly loved the performance, which is evident in a recent interview he did on BBC 6 Music:

“We did this festival called Bonnaroo. We did 2.5 hours. And there’s 80,000 people, admittedly they’ve been smoking the sticky green all day– probably wouldn’t go anywhere anyway. It was just amazing. We played loads of new stuff. We did whole sections of quiet piano songs and it sounds like the most grotesque, self-indulgent nonsense, but it probably is my favourite gig for years and years and years. It was a really mellow evening. Actually it’s all being filmed, but we’re sitting on it because there’s loads of new stuff on it. Because we’re mean like that. It will come out eventually.”

We’ll take two DVDs please.

You and Whose Atonement

Radiohead’s “You and Whose Army” has been sampled in a new song by The Roots called “Exit Music: Songs for Radio Heads(iTunes link). Roots member Ahmir (?uestlove) produced a version of “Morning Bell” for the same release.
“Atonement” is included on the new album by The Roots, Game Theory. iTunes has it for purchase so check it out if that’s your thing…

Bedtime stories by Thom Yorke

The always funny McSweeney’s has some bedtime stories by Thom. Our favorite is “The Happy Little Bunny”:

Once there was a little bunny who had a little furry tail and a little shiny nose. But the electrodeath cloud of commerce strangled it and its foxhole was converted to a parking lot, a parking lot, a parking lot. Ample parking asphalted over bunny bones. Everyone everyone everyone get in.

For those of you that will undoubtedly write in, no, these are not real. 🙂

The many faces of “Creep”

Ticklebooth has a great article up about the song “Creep”. I would try and explain it but it’s better if you just go and look for yourself.
