Moby, Beck cover “Creep”

Both Moby and Beck have covered Radiohead’s “Creep” recently. According to the NME, Moby “led fans in an impromptu sing-along in a BELFAST hotel at the weekend following his show in the city, covering songs by Radiohead, Guns N’ Roses and Janis Joplin.”
In a seperate incident, Beck also performed “Creep” at his recent concert in FT Worth, Texas. Green Plastic reader Jason Harville writes:

During Beck’s performance he played “Loser.”? After the song he started talking about how some bands don’t like to play their first hit because of whatever reason. Then the singer for the Flaming Lips said something like ‘yeah I went and saw Radiohead last time they toured and they didn’t play “Creep.”‘? Anyway, they kept on talking about Radiohead for a bit then Beck started to play his next song.? Right in the middle of the song he stopped.? With everyone wondering what was going on, band included, he stared to cover “Creep”.? The croud went crazy and the band joined in eventually.? After the cover, Beck and the lead singer for the Flaming Lips were saying how if Radiohead isn’t going to play that song then they can just pick up the slack, jokingly.”

Thom on cover of Q

qcover (19k image)

This month’s issue of Q Magazine (starring Thom w/ The Hives’ Pelle Almqvist, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, on the cover) features a brief interview with Thom, Ed, and Nigel Godrich; in which they talk about recording the new Radiohead album in LA, and about winning the 2002 Q Award for “Best Act in The World Today”. There are quite a few pictures of Thom and Ed at the awards ceremony gracing the article. As if that wasn’t enough, the I Might Be Wrong EP made the list of Q’s “50 Essential Albums of 2002”.

RH vs the Matrix

For those of you in the Vancouver area, don’t miss Blinding Light Cinema’s showing of “Radiohead vs The Matrix” on November 15. Here’s some info from the Blinding Light Cinema website:

From the folks who brought you DARK SIDE OF THE RAINBOW and JACOB?S WEENER comes the return engagement of this melding of music and image in the form of RADIOHEAD and THE MATRIX. This evening?s strategy is to synchronize the entire library of Radiohead recordings to start together (on separate CD players) at the beginning of the thoroughly entertaining, visually engrossing and paranoia-inducing THE MATRIX. As the film plays, the music will be drawn in and out of the mix as each album unfolds simultaneously, magically blending with the images in serendipitous synchronizations. Come with an open mind and a willingness to let it all go?

Showtime is 8:30pm Friday night.

Moby talks about RH

In his online diary, Moby made the following post which includes some comments about Radiohead and Thom:

“i think that radiohead should make a booty record. like miami bass or detroit ghetto tech. i would pay good money to hear thom yorke sing ‘oh me so horny, do it like a donkey’.
wouldn’t you?”
