Radiohead star opens charity centre

Radiohead’s Phil Selway is due to open a new centre for the Samaritans. Mr Selway, a volunteer with the charity, was unveiling the building in Oxford on Friday. The state-of-the-art centre in Magdalen Road features interview and meeting rooms.

“It’s a very impressive place,” Mr Selway told BBC Oxford Online.

Radiohead and the Samaritans are polar opposites…but they do provide a good contrast. Phil Selway: “For an organisation that’s based on volunteers it’s incredibly professionally run. I think this comes across in the centre.”

Mr Selway became a Samaritan when he was a student in Liverpool in the 1980s.

More tour rumors

We’ve just been told about a possible set of dates in Spain this July. The info comes from this site and it says (translated from Spanish):

“…the concerts would take place during three or four consecutive days in Salamanca Theater, a pretty hall with a capacity of 1000, ideal to create an intimate atmosphere of Radiohead’s music. Although it is not yet an official confirmation, it seems that the negotiations are very advanced.”

So, add this to the list of places, which also include Portugal and Brazil, Radiohead are rumored to be playing this year.

Radiohead in Brazil

This site (in Portuguese) is reporting that a rock festival will take place later this year in Brazil and Radiohead are among the artists rumored to be playing. Other artists include U2, Pearl Jam, Oasis, and many more…

No tour dates have been officially announced by Radiohead as of yet but South America has been one of the places that various members of the band have expressed interest in touring.

Remember, this is just a rumor and nothing has been announced yet. Stay tuned…

One Note

Time again for some fake news to keep you entertained…

RADIOHEAD TO RELEASE ONE-NOTE ALBUM – After releasing two consecutive albums that left fans somewhat bewildered and indie critics up in arms over being outsmarted, Radiohead is set to release their latest album. It is said to be a 76 minute long opus written entirely with one note, a key factor that is leaving many critics confused. ?”I’m so used to dismissing them as being an overly-self indulgent band way past the point of redundancy who had lost any cultural relevance whatsoever, that I have no idea what I should be saying about this up-coming album,” said local indie critic Mark Gosford. “Speaking of which, have you read my latest op/ed on the importance of Cale and Reed in today’s swamp rock and indie rock scene?”

Something Awful

Something Awful has a parody of some upcoming Christmas gifts and included was this:

Radiohead: “Live From the IntellectualDome” (music video) – Pretentious pop / anti-pop / pseudo pop band Radiohead was filmed live at the Saint Louis IntellectualDome, where they were accompanied by a string quartet, an entire brass section, and twelve hillbillies that played homemade instruments ranging from the washboard to the jug. Thom Yorke and his band of hipster doofuses play a variety of their hit songs aimed at art major college students, including the upcoming singles “If You Don’t Like This Song Then You Don’t Get It and You Are Stupid” and “My Art is Deeper Than Your Art.” The crowd expresses their approval by holding up their expresso coffee cups and flashing the lights on their SUVs. Yorke concludes his live performance with a stirring rendition of “This Song is 50 Thousand 16th Notes.”
