Thom: “It feels like we are finally getting somewhere”

Thom has updated Dead Air Space with the following:

might i suggest that those selling their koko tickets on e bay for stupid money gives a contribution…
say 30 percent of their proceeds,
back to friends of the earth, for whose benefit we are all doing this show.
seems only fair, unless you’re a shallow____, dont you think?
by the way listening back to things we are doing and looking through the lyrics today and stuff it feels like we are finally getting somewhere. there are lots of songs. too many to get together straight away. so we will be furiously rehearsing and writing as we go.
… i think we ve always worked best when we arent bothered
about making mistakes.
theres a lot of baggage about the old way of doing things that is hard to get over…
all the ‘album’ crap..just this level of pressure that is ridiculous.. we’re just going to do what feels right at the time quite intothe idea of singles at the moment(that dont get on the radio)
..
no grand design… wherever we are at. some of the random stuff we have at the moment could be the most exciting… trying to figure out how on earth we will be able to play some of it. anyway it is not important. there is more to life than freaking out about petty bullshit like this. there are more important things to think about.

Thom singing at the Trade Justice vigil

At Ease has mp3s up of the two new songs performed by Thom Yorke last week at the Trade Justice vigil. There seems to be some confusion on the name of the second song, “Glass Flowers”. We are betting that this song is actually “Last Flowers“, which has been kicking around since the OK Computer sessions. It’s possible that the NME got the name wrong.

There also videos up of the performance here.

Radiohead bag Best Act In The World Today award

Despite leading the field of hopefuls with three Q Award nominations, Oasis failed to collect a single gong, losing the much-coveted Best Act in the World Today award to Radiohead. The Oxford rockers were presented the award by cult comedians The League of Gentlemen at a star-studded ceremony attended by the likes of Moby, So Solid Crew and Ms Dynamite. It is the second time that Radiohead have won the award in two years, having originally collected it in 2001 off the back of their critically acclaimed album, “Amnesiac.” “A lot of the time when we’ve made records, we think we’ve done the most stupid thing we could have possibly done,” said a very quiet Thom Yorke. “So things like this mean a lot to us otherwise we wouldn’t have the confidence to do it because that’s what we’re like.”

Bjork documentary

As we reported earlier, Thom is included in a documentary about Bjork called “Inside Bjork”. www.bjork.com has a preview of the documentary which shows Thom saying, “She was born with a voice that is very sexual but at the same time very child-like, and very vicious and powerful, but there’s no sense that she’d do damage.”

Download the preview here.
