The video for the US version
of "High and Dry" features various persons miming the lyrics to the song whilst the
band sit watching a portable TV after arriving at a Dicks restaurant. It does have
a plot to it but figuring it out is way beyond my brains capability. Anyone?? Very
Pulp Fiction-esque.
The manager for Dick's said that the band were just driving through the area and thought
the diner would be a great video location. Review by Karen Hands:
When I first saw this, I thought I could tell what the rest of the plot would be after
about the first minute. I was wrong. This plot is one of many dodgy goings on that
end up all in the same diner, where Radiohead just happen to be taking a break. It's
a bit hard to explain because there are so many people in it. Thom sees a bloke putting
a key into some dip. I thought Thom was going to get them caught and the band would
become heroes. Wrong! The bloke and this girl end up being in car that gets blown
up.
The only real 'Thom moment' is when he goes to the toilet, smiles at a small child
that smiles at him, then gives the dirtiest look to one of the dodgy people involved
in this complex plot. You would not want to be on the receiving end of one of those
looks, it is a look of real hate. As he really hated his old headmaster, you can imagine
Thom giving that look to him. |
