I'm pretty sure the title is explained in the song lyrics "i want
to be someone else or ill explode", just as a talk show host must
feel when he has gone through the same routine thousands of times
and is forced to continue it. sooner or later the host will explode,
"floating upon the surface for the birds" the birds beeing the critics
and reviewers waiting for the t.s.h. to explode verbally over the
horrible life of his and not holding it in anymore.
"you want me, well fuking well come and find me ill be waiting with
a gun and a pack of sandwiches and nOTHing..." the t.s.h. doesnt
care anymore, he will say what he wants to without beeing driven
by the mindless corporation controlling him. and if the critics
come chasing him for his comments he'll wait for them with a gun
and a sandwich, meaning he'll wait for them forever, always ready
to attack them for beeing such blood suckers. when he says "and
nOTHing..." he is saying he wont need any help cuz hes not afraid,
hes not going to need anything else to stop them
With the final line "you want me, well come on and break the door
down, you want me, fucking come on and break the door downnnnn, im
readyyyyyyyy..." hes just givin his final warning that from now
on anything goes now and he wont stop ever for anything, its come
to that point and theres no turning back. The final part when the
guitars are going uncontrollably it represents the t.s.h.'s step
into insanity, the second meaning of the last verse"im ready..."
, hes ready for insanity to set in, to be left alone forever.
thats what i got, and it sounds just about right, but i dont know,
RADIOHEAD songs are the only thing ive ever been able to find the
meaning of thanx for reading anyway

Radioheads finest e.p. I beleive the song is talking about and outcast
- no friends, upset with his/her life and on the verge of suicide
- "I want to, I want to be someone else or I'll explode."
He has given up trying to make an effort and he is mocking death,
as it draws ever closer. "You want me? Come and fucking get me"
"I'll be waiting" - He is ready.
Hey, that sounds quite like my life. Heh. |

Talk show host, falls into that "I dont give a damn anymore"
theme radiohead so eloquently supplies us with. Looking at the sond
by itself, it is a melonchollie tune hintng at suicidal tendancies,
at hatred for both an inner and outer world. However, paralelling
it with Romeo and Juliet adds an overtone of urgency, love, sadness,
and in the end as the great William Shakespear had it, in TRAGEDY.
The song stands by itself as an excellent ep, but with its relations
to a classic plot, the lyrics and the tone are stiffened, and incredibly
powerful. |

without a doubt the best b-side by any band. there is violence here.
its not thom versus himself. its not anyone wanting ot be anyone...its
one versus all..thom against the entire world...fucking come on and
brake the door down. the sneer in his voice is quite evident. fuck
everyone..bring it on. and have some sandwiches while you wait your
turn. |

i was just thinking -- which doesn't always work out -- that talk
show host is not as complicated as it is made out to be. it is simply
about the feeling of doing many, many (similar) interviews and having
a complete lack of interest, if not out and out distain for them.
here, he is talking to the talk show host. ask thom, he will tell
you. haaaave a good one! |
