Next Radiohead album in “embryonic” stage

Brian Message, one of Radiohead’s manager, was recently interviewed by the BBC for article about another band he manages, Faithless, and gave a little update on the next Radiohead album. Granted, it’s not very much of anything, but these days we’ll take whatever we can get.

In 2007, Radiohead made their seventh album available on their website in a pay-what-you-want offer, making them the first major act to rip up the traditional album release plan.

“There are no rules any more,” Mr Message said. “What Radiohead did is just one example of that freedom to go and make up your own plan.”

Mr Message said Radiohead’s next album was at an “embryonic” stage and he had “no idea” how it would be released.

“The first step in the process is that they’ve got to make some music that they’re proud of. There are no plans until the boys come back and say: ‘We’ve got something we like here.'”

Thom Yorke featured in Grammy Commercial

Thom Yorke
Thom Yorke is featured in a new advertising campaign for the upcoming Grammy’s. From Billboard:

Developed by ad agency TBWA\Chiat\Day the campaign includes television, radio, out of home, print, and online. In the TV ads, portraits of singers such as Thom Yorke, Rihanna and Stevie Wonder are drawn on screen using titles of songs that were critical to their development. The artists are heard talking about importance of music. Yorke’s participation is particularly noteworthy because the reclusive frontman for Radiohead rarely does commercial ads.

Here’s the TV ad:

Radiohead song used in homelessness PSA

The National Coalition for the Homeless is using the Radiohead song “MK1” (off the In Rainbows bonus disc) for a new PSA, titled “It Can Happen to Anyone.” Apparently, Radiohead donated the song to be used in the spot.

Here it is:

This isn’t the first time Radiohead’s music has been used in an ad. You may remember last year “House of Cards” being used for a NBA Playoffs spot.
