‘Split Sides’ in London

As we suspected (and reported), the Merce Cunnigham Dance Company is taking ‘Split Sides’ to London. Neither Sigur Ros or Radiohead will be appearing, a remixed version of the material from New York will be piped in.
You can still get tickets (although At Ease reports they’re going quickly) by contacting Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2 (0845 120 7536) from 5 to 9 October.

NYC Dance Troupe Features RH

Every summer, the Pilobolus dance troupe takes up residence in Manhattan’s Joyce Theater. One of their programs, Jonathan Wolken’s “Megawatt”, is set to recorded music by Radiohead, as well as tracks from Primus, Squarepusher, and others.
Can’t seem to find any more information…anyone who is into that kind of thing should feel free to send in a review.

DJ Shadow on RH

DJ Shadow, who collaborated with Thom Yorke as 1/2 of U.N.K.L.E. (‘Rabbit In Your Headlights’), was interviewed in the Financial Times:

“I’ve always been fascinated by music that makes everybody behave a certain way. For instance, I’ve noticed that when you’re driving with your friends, and a certain song comes on the radio, everybody gets silent and pensive, looking out the window. I started analysing what music made that happen. Certain people are able to do it; Radiohead create that true emotional urgency and grit.”

Modern Classics Live does OK Computer

On Thursday, August 12, Modern Classics Live will perform OK Computer at The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. Ticket costs $12 advance $15 at the door, and you can purchase them at Ticketmaster.ca, which we can only assume is just as unholy as the U.S. version of Ticketmaster.
As I understand the website, Modern Classics Live consists of a group of trained musicians that plays said album, “note for note, cut for cut”. I can imagine this would be interesting to see live. They’ve got decent reviews, and they’ve tackled Nirvana, The Police, The Clash, and U2 thus far, and nobody seems irritated. Enjoy…
You can read more info about Modern Classics Live at their official website.

Montreux Festival to be Broadcast on US TV

The Ovation Network (USA) will be broadcasting highlights from the 2003 Montreux Jazz Festival. Radiohead is part of the show today, starting at 8pm EST (5pm PST). Also appearing on the two-hour program will be Jamiroquai, Morcheeba, George Benson, Natalie Cole, Simply Red, Bonnie Raitt, The Pretenders and Van Morrison, so I wouldn’t expect more than one or two songs.
