Internet Problems=Lack of Updates

Howdy, everyone. Just wanted to calm jangled nerves, and note that we are still here. However, due to both Jonathan and I having rather large computer/internet issues, we have been unable to update. We should have everything worked out (and be back to full speed) within a week or so.

Loads of Coachella Reviews/MP3s

Everybody and their brother has reviewed Coachella. To sum up, The Pixies were amazing, as was Radiohead. Apparently, Thom’s voice hadn’t entirely healed, but general consensus is that it sounds much worse on the MP3 boots than it did at the show. Since every review reads pretty much the same, I’ll refer you over to Treefingers, who has collected a good chunk of them for you to peruse as you see fit.
There was a bit of a tease with “Let Down”, but Thom left it up to Jonny…who chose “Planet Telex”.
Speaking of MP3 bootlegs, there are apparently some very high-quality ones floating around your favorite file-sharing app- of both Radiohead and The Pixies. They certainly go hand-in-hand.

Great Big News Roundup

Back in action after a week and a half of no internet (not as bad as it sounds), and lots to report- here we go.
*Radiohead did in fact have to cancel their final show in Melbourne, Austrailia. After having trouble during the first show, Thom was diagnosed as having marked hoarseness of voice, a significant upper airway infection, and associated heavy inflammation of his vocal chords. He was advised by a doctor that should he have performed that night, he risked permanent damage to his voice. Nobody wants that, of course. The band expressed sincere apologies to their Aussie fans, who they know travelled far and wide to be there, and made it clear that this decision was not made lightly (not exactly G’N’R, our boys, a quick glance at the gigography reveals a very very very few cancelled shows, all done for good reason). Refunds are available at the point of purchase, and if you bought them from w.a.s.t.e, you need to mail them to
Waste Products Ltd.
PO Box 322

to get your refund.
*Jonny’s Bodysong score was nominated for ‘Best Original Film Score’ at the Ivor Novello awards. We’ll find out if he wins at the end of this month.
*The “Japanese-only” Com Lag EP has gone global, with release now confirmed for Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Canada.
*Q Magazine listed “OK Computer” and “The Bends” as two (out of twenty) of the most important albums of the last 25 years. “OK Computer” was second only to Nirvana’s “Nevermind”, and Radiohead was the only group that had two albums on the list. “Creep” was listed as the third most important single in the past 25 years (out of 20).
*The Scotsman and Q Magazine declared Radiohead’s 1997 Glastonbury gig (listen to “How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found” for more info) the number one gig of all time, followed by Nirvana, Oasis, Coldplay, and Brian Wilson.
*Fan favorite “Let Down” was soundchecked three times over in Oz. Rarely played live, this would be a treat to hear if any has any recordings. Hint hint.
That should do it (for now), we’re back online so we shall keep you posted as best we can.
We missed you…
(Thanks to CUTW, At Ease, Treefingers, 58hours, and all the fine people who wrote in with news while we were gone, news that was immediately erased when my hard drive failed about thirty minutes after setting up my computer in its new home).

Big Sighs of Relief- Coachella a Go.

That sound you hear is 50,000 people letting out a big sigh of relief at once. At approx. 9PM PST, Radiohead did in fact take the stage at Coachella, Thom’s throat problems be damned.
58hours (a GREAT live Radiohead resource, by the way) is doing their usual amazing live setlist updates, courtesy of their spies at Coachella.

Richdork Media!

I know I’m supposed to be moving, but you have to go check out RichDork Media. The internet at it’s finest.
“As for tracks 2-9, I was unable to listen to them as I was so blown away by Radiohead’s sheer power that I beat my CD player into pieces with a rake so it would never be defiled by another, inferior compact disc. I shall review the rest of the album once my dad flies back from the Hamptons and buys me a new SUV to play it in.”
(Thanks to Dave.)
