“EPs Are More Likely” – Thom

Thom gave a brief, but very interesting, backstage interview to the Associated Press after the Mountain View show, in which he noted that Radiohead recently fulfilled their contract with Parlophone/EMI, and will probably not continue releasing music in the standard pattern.

“It’s always been album, album, album,” he says, adding that he believes the music business will be forced to change because the way people listen to music is changing.

“Things like iTunes and people splitting up tracks,” he says. “I kind of think that’s good. I listen to music on random all the time.”

With the freedom to do anything, Yorke says he’s unsure what the band will try next, although it’s unlikely to pound out another album. EPs are more likely.

“The whole thing’s in their hands. I think it’s a band that’s always going to test the limits and try new things,” says Rob Gordon, vice president of global marketing at EMI, who added he’s confident the band’s relationship with his label will continue.

Pitchfork Media Reviews Bodysong Single

Indie music haven Pitchfork Media, to which I’d recommend a daily visit (right after Green Plastic, naturally), has given “Moon Trills” from Jonny’s Bodysong Soundtrack a 3 1/2 star review in their “We Are the World” singles review section.

Bodysong Was Leaked, We Know/Call for Bootleg Info

To those who continue to ask why we didn’t post this when it happened, my answer is this- if you’re going to insist on pirating commercially available Radiohead music, we’re certainly not going to help you.
Concert recordings, however, are another story. If you’re aware of any high quality (i.e., think Salamanca or Berlin) recordings from the current tour out there, please pass it (the info, NOT the MP3s) on to us. We’re specifically looking for what show, why the bootleg is so good, type of recording, sound quality, and where it can be found.

Chartattack.com Reviews Toronto Show

Canadian music site Chart Attack has a brief review about Radiohead’s recent Toronto make-good show. An excerpt-

There’s a parallel between Radiohead and the athletes who usually patrol the Skydome; their reputations are not based on the present, but on the past. Professional athletes like baseball players are awarded contracts based on past merits rather than on their current abilities. Similarly, Radiohead developed their popularity with the release of two critically acclaimed albums in the ’90s ? The Bends and OK Computer ? before delving into a more experimental mode over the past three years. Though the partisan crowd was enthusiastic for any thing their heroes would perform, it was quite obvious that the large majority of the crowd would have been happier to hear more of the band’s earlier work than the moody, atmospheric material from their latest release, Hail To The Thief. Still, 11 of the album’s 14 songs were included in the concert.

2+2=5 At #1 on NME Chart

From NME
RADIOHEAD’s ‘2+2=5’ has hit the Number One spot in the first ever DARKNESS-free week in the NME Top Ten, beating off competition from THE STROKES, THE COOPER TEMPLE CLAUSE and RAZORLIGHT.
The unofficial MTV footage of ‘2+2=5′ has proved to be a huge hit with chart viewers, but will it still hold the top spot next week against strong new contenders Hundred Reasons and next week’s release of The White Stripes’ ‘The Hardest Button To Button’?
