It looks as if a few Radiohead fans are starting up a movement to have the video made for “Lucky” appear on MTV’s Total Request Live on May 2, 2000. What can you do? Simple. On May 2 go to MTV.com and click on the “TRL” section of the site. From there, go to the “Play My Song” bit. At the bottom of the page, you’ll see a place to enter in a video not listed.

Rankin Exhibition

From Garbage.com:

World renowned photographer, Rankin, will be staging his Celebration Exhibition — an alternative collection of his portraits which show celebrities relaxing instead of posing in front of the camera. This exhibit will take place at The Proud Galleries (UK) during the month of April and will include a photo taken of Shirley Manson. Other artists that Rankin will include in the exhibit — and a subsequent book — include Mel C, Thom Yorke, Tricky, REM, Daniem Hirst and Beck.

Bjork and Yorke Duet Update

Bjork’s official website, Websense, has this to say about the rumor of Thom Yorke and Bjork recording a duet together for Bjork’s upcoming film, Dancer in the Dark:

“Some confusion has risen once again around the collaboration between Bjork and Thom Yorke of Radiohead. The most interesting and speculative was similar to: ‘OhMYGawd! it is not happening!’ Why this was proclaimed Meester Fly and his team of web insects never understood. When the only thing they heard on the grapewire was that it was still on, but not yet happened. Things don’t happen until they happen, pretty obvious isn’t ?! So what can Meester Fly say today! Well, it has happened, (and if it has not happened he will retract this statement), but the act happened in a foreign country, at least foreign to England and Iceland.”

Everything has to be complicated, doesn’t it? 🙂

By the way, Meester Fly is the Websense reporter of news.

The newest issue of Rollingstone magazine has a blurb about the duet too… Check it out at your local book store or news agent! (thanks to Kevin B)

For more information about Bjork’s new movie, check out the official Dancer in the Dark website.

Recording is Finished!

Go to the bottom of Thom’s page on the official website and you’ll see:
“yesterday we finished recording. i am free and happy and now im going for a walk in the park goodbye.”
The album will now be mixed together and will probably still be released around September or October 2000. There is NO official release date so anything is possible.

Greece Tickets On Sale
You can apparently purchase tickets for the Greece shows now, even though no official sale date was announced by the band. The two Athens dates (June 26 and 27) went on sale yesterday. There is no way to purchase tickets on the internet so you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way: Go to the Ticket House at 42 Panepistimiou Ave in the center of Athens. Call (0030-1-)3608634 or (0030-1-)3608366 for information. There is no information about the June 25 show in Thessaloniki.

Here’s the press release about a new Radiohead book being released next month:
EXIT MUSIC: THE RADIOHEAD STORY
BY MAC RANDALL
Publication date: May 11th 2000
Price: ÂŁ10.95
from the introduction:

ìIn my capacity as senior editor at Musician magazine, I did what I could to gain the band more recognition, interviewing various members in late ’95 and early ’96. And I was privileged to be one of two American journalists attending the festivities that accompanied the European release of their 1997 album OK Computer in Barcelona, Spain…Finally, in June 1999, I traveled to Oxford to see for myself where the band had got its start…Ă®
Mac Randall has interviewed all the members of Radiohead. Although one of the worldĂs most famous bands, they are notoriously private and very few journalists have got as close to them as Randall has over the years.
Exit Music: The Radiohead Story is an attempt to explore the band and their unique musical expression, and Randall charts this progress from Pablo Honey and their alienation from the British music media as they made it huge on campus circuits across the USA following the overseas success of Creep, through to their current position as media darlings reappropriated by their native culture.

Mac Randall is the East Coast editor of LAUNCH.
