Ed Pays Dollar to Pie Clown

Okay, this is old news but who cares…. GP reader Andrew sent us this link from the Arcade Fire’s new album diary where Win Butler describes meeting Radiohead back in June when the band was in Montreal:

“we got to go to the radiohead show here in montreal and meet some of the guys in the band, which was a real dream…we showed ed and colin the people who do midevil sword fighting on the mountain, and ed payed a dollar to smash a pie in the face of this guy dressed up like a clown (i think it was this guys stag party)”

You can find the quote under the June 18th entry. Though it’s not really news, we can’t resist posting stories about Ed smashing pies into the face of clowns.

No more live dates until new album

Radiohead have vowed not to play live again until they have completed their next album.
The band have been road testing airing new songs such as ‘Bodysnatchers’ and ‘All I Need’ throughout their world tour dates this spring and summer.
But speaking after Tuesday night’s Mercury Music Prize ceremony, Thom Yorke believes it’s time he and his band mates knuckled down on the follow-up to ‘Hail To The Thief.’
He told BBC6music: “We’re in quite a good space really, because we’ve just done the festivals like V Festival, so we are going off for the rest of the year basically, until it’s done – we’re not let out till it’s done.”

A new Yorke solo album on the way

Andy Yorke

Hehe.. no, not by Thom but rather his younger brother, Andy. If you didn’t know, Andy Yorke has had his own band called the Unbelievable Truth. They have released a couple of albums but have pretty much broken up. Andy had just finished recording an album of his own. Mixing finished in early August and a release is expected sometime early next year. Ex-Unbelievable Truth bandmates Nigel Powell and Jason Moulster were on hand, offering their talents on bass, drums, and keyboards.
You can listen to some of Andy’s songs at the following sites:

YouTube Friday

I know it’s been ages since we had a YouTube Friday here at Green Plastic. Hopefully you’ll forgive us once you see these classic Radiohead moments on YouTube.
Remember Mystery Science Theater 3000? If not, it was a show about a guy and some robots in outer space that were forced to watch really bad movies. Throughout the movie, the characters would make silly comments and pretty much make fun of anything and everything that was going on. This made for very funny TV. Anyway, back in the mid-90s, MTV had a show called Week In Rock which was basically a program dedicated to music news and stories. What you are about to see here is a segment from Week in Rock with the MSTK3 guys making fun of Radiohead. Sure, it may be a little harsh but what the hey…

Next we have the best of Radiohead on South Park. Yes, the band actually lent their voices to the South Park creators. I would of loved to have seen Thom’s reaction to the script saying him to say, “but he has cancer….. in his ass!”

We’ve gotten a lot of email about this next one. Many people think that this is an actual video for Thom’s song “Analyse” but it’s really just a bunch of scenes from the movie Requiem for a Dream. It’s still cool…
