Tonight

Tonight the band will be playing the Gorge in George, WA.

A concert set for Aug. 1 in Grant Park by the white-hot rock group Radiohead will mark an unprecedented experiment in outdoor admission-only concerts on Chicago’s “front lawn.” Producers will construct a temporary fenced venue for the show, which could attract fans who were unable to get a ticket.

The concert by the British quintet sold 16,000 tickets in four minutes last Saturday (as fast as the system can sell tickets), evidence of a great demand among fans to see the group, whose computer-heavy art rock sound is credited with transforming contemporary music. Whether the show will mark a successful new way of producing such events?raditionally held in amphitheaters or sports stadiums?s open to question, depending on how traffic, security and crowd control outside the concert is handled. Read more… {thanks to Emil}

MTV 2 (USA) will be airing a Radiohead special on July 4. During this special will be an “amazing” interview that all five members of the band did with Gideon Yago while at the Red Rocks concert. There will also be some live footage as well. {thanks to Ultragrrrl, Diskeater, & Torie}

VH1 has a new Radiohead Player for you to download.

The 1998 Amnesty International Concert that Radiohead took part in will air on TNT Latin America on Thursday, June 28th at 17:45 (GMT -5), 19:45 (in Argentina). Make sure to check your local listings. {thanks to italo rossi}

According to Radio 1’s Mark and Lard, the “Knives Out” single will be released in the UK on August 6. {thanks to Joe}

Check out this Amnesiac review.

A DJ called Dave Clarke has released an album caled “World Service”. It’s a double CD with an Electro and Techno mix. Featured on the Electro set is Radiohead’s “Idioteque” in full as appeared on Kid A without any re-mixing. Apparently Dave said the track was perfect as it was and required no-remixing to suit the electro genre. {thanks to Duncan}

Check out this page! It has got some really interesting stuff about Amnesiac and “Pyramid Song”.

www.meetingpeopleiseasy.de has gotten hold of some new promo pics. Yay!

Q Magazine has got a 20-page feature on Radiohead, their history, and what it was like to record OKC, Kid A, and Amnesiac. {thanks to Dave}

And the Butler Field saga continues…

I have never gotten as much email about a certain tour date as I did on this one… Last week Billboard.com announced the Chicago August 1 show as being held in Grant Park’s Butler Field. Well, it appears that there is going to be a Opera of some sort at Butler Field on August 1 so unless Radiohead is planning something outrageous with an opera (and yes, we could picture Jonny having a field day with that!), Butler Field will not be the location of the show. But don’t worry…. According to the City of Chicago Permits Office, the show will take place the same night at Arvey Field, which is also part of Grant Park. The show will be put on by Jam Production and the tickets will supposedly go on sale around June 16 by none other than Ticketmaster.

So there you have it. This information is still unconfirmed by the band but hopefully it’ll help you out.

Attention Vancouver Fans!

This was posted today at the 99.3 The Fox Website:

The FOX is presenting Radiohead at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium on June 24th. Tickets officially go on sale Saturday, May 12th at Ticketmaster for $49.50 plus facility fee and service charge (4 ticket limit). Listen to The FOX to win Free tickets all week! An internet pre-sale will also be available from 9:30am May 10 until 8pm May 11 only through www.cfox.com. Check back for details!

There seems to be some confusion about Butler Field, the location of the Chicago Radiohead show on August 1. Butler Field is in Grant Park, where the soon-to-be-dismantled Petrillo Music Shell is, where the Chicago Jazz Festival (among other things) is held every year. Previous reports of it being at Soldier Field were incorrect.

News for March 21, 1999

Here’s another press release about “Meeting People is Easy”:

Hollywood and Vine Teams Up with SonicNet and Broadcast.com to Chat with Radiohead Film Director and Host Exclusive 24-Hour Preview
01:38 p.m Mar 19, 1999 Eastern

NEW YORK–(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)–March 19, 1999–To help kick-off a month long, five-city tour of the behind-the-scenes, multi-media collage about Radiohead, “Meeting People Is Easy,” film and video director Grant Gee will chat on SonicNet on Monday, March 22nd at 6:00 PM ET/3:00 PM PT. Preceding the web chat, Broadcast.com will run a 15-minute excerpt for 24 hours, giving fans the opportunity to preview the film before the chat. The preview begins on Sunday, March 21st at 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT. Fans can view the film and join the chat by logging onto http://www.hollywoodandvine.com. They can also enter a random drawing during the chat to win a DVD copy of the film upon release.

After premiering at the SXSW Music and Film Conference in Austin, TX on March 20th, “Meeting People Is Easy” will show in theaters for a limited time in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Francisco before being released as a home video and DVD on May 4th. A full screening itinerary follows on the back (please note New York Angelika Film Center screenings are now Friday and Saturday, April 2-3).

For those asking about how and where to get tickets to the screenings, the Music Box Theater box office in Chicago will be selling them just like they would sell tickets to any other movie. I’m assuming that this is the same for all the other theaters showing the film. Contact the box offices for more info.

On the rumor front, it seems that Radiohead will be contributing to a Smiths tribute album in the near future. That is all the info that I have. The band are big fans of the Smiths and Ed has said in interviews that “the Smiths were the reason Radiohead formed.”
