Newsweek mentions Kid A

In Newsweek’s Fall Arts Preview, the mentioned Radiohead and Kid A. Here’s the blurb:

“Kid A” is the year’s most highly anticipated underground pop album. Enigmatic, arty, and brooding enough to be 2000’s answer to “The Wall,” it’s a sure winner for the “Lie in Bed, Stare at the Ceiling, Contemplate Life” album award.

Kid A Playback in NYC

Apparently there will be a playback of Kid A at the Sony IMAX theater at Sony Lincoln Square (68th and Broadway) in New York City next Tuesday, September 5. The playback is for media and retail only, but we’ve been told that there will be playbacks for the public soon in selected cities across the US. Once anything is known, it’ll be here!

OK Computer Radiohead Thom Yorke tour

News for April 18, 1998

What does it take to score an interview with reluctant Brit-rock demigod Thom Yorke of Radiohead? Apparently, being animated doesn’t hurt. The Radiohead frontman has agreed to appear on an upcoming episode of the Cartoon Network talk show “Space Ghost Coast To Coast” which airs each Friday at midnight.

Yorke, who often leaves interview duties to his bandmates, joins an impressive list of music world luminaries who have visited the show, including Metallica, Beck, Method Man, and Pavement, who were the first band to actually perform on the show (excluding Space Ghost’s tuneless sidekick Brak, of course).

Radiohead wraps up its U.S. tour with two shows at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall this weekend.

Action Records is having a contest in which you can win rare Radiohead artwork. The catch: you got to preorder the upcoming Seven Television Commercials home video.

You can read the transcripts from last Sunday’s MuchMusic interview with Thom by clicking here.

OK Computer Radiohead Thom Yorke tour

News for March 7, 1998

The collaboration single with Drugstore and Thom will be released on April 20. The track, entitled El Presidente, was recorded in 1996 but is now being released due to legal problems.

A video compilation containing seven singles will be released on April 27 in the UK. It will include videos for Paranoid Android, Street Spirit, No Surprises, Just, High & Dry (US version), Karma Police, and Fake Plastic Trees.

There has been a second date added in New York CIty on March 18. The people of Detroit are petitioning to have radiohead come and play there on their upcoming US tour.

For the tour in America, Radiohead will be releasing a new EP called ‘Airbag: How’s My Driving?’, (referred to by Stanley as the ‘we’re running out of ideas’ EP). No other details at the moment, but lets hope it has a few new tracks – as the band have said that they will be playing new material on the forthcoming tour (Motion Picture Soundtrack and True Love Waits at least).

The DJ Shadow / Thom collaboration, Rabbit in Your Headlights, will be released this summer.
