Well, Thom didn’t win the Grammy for “Best Alternative Album” for The Eraser. Instead, Gnarls Barkley won. Chin up, Thom!

Hello there… Remember this site?
First off, apologies for the lack of updates. There’s really no excuse other than personal and work lives became much more important over the last few months. 2007 should be better folks. It has to be better as this year marks 10 years of GP. Can you believe that? 10 years?! When I first started Green Plastic on my free AOL member page, I had no idea that it would of been a part of my life for this long. It’s gotten me jobs, it’s introduced me to new people, and it’s given me the opportunity to meet the band. For those that thought that I had given up on the site, fear not! While work and life have become more important to me, I will always have a place for this site. I mentioned in the last update that a redesign is in progress. That is still happening. I did tweak the older layout today as you may have noticed.
Okay, enough of that. Let me tell you what Radiohead has been doing since we last updated:
Most importantly, the band are back at work on the new album. Writing in the Dead Air Space blog last week, Thom mentioned that the band were “working on a version of 15step and rebuilding our studio in the wind.” He also suggests that if you live in the UK, that you visit http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/trident/.
Thom spoke in an interview recently saying that the new album is similar to OK Computer but “but much more terrifying.” The album should include songs like “Videotape” and “Bangers N Mash.” There’s still no date on the album release. Stay posted…
Thom Yorke’s Eraser is nominated for a Grammy in the “Best Alternative Music Album” category. He faces stiff competition from the Arctic Monkeys, The Flaming Lips, Gnarls Barkley, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The 49th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled for February 11, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Thom is also nominated for the “British Male Solo” award at this year’s Brit Awards. James Morrison, Jarvis Cocker, Lemar and Paolo Nutini are all nominated too. The awards take place at London’s Earls Court Arena on February 14th.
There is plenty of other news, which we’ll post up soon. In the meantime, check out this video of an interview with Thom back in October:
(thanks to everyone that wrote in concerned about the status of the site. all is well)
When the band isn’t touring, news is hard to come by. With that being said, we give you this totally random Radiohead news story:
John Mayer covered Thom Yorke’s “The Eraser” in a live performance recently. Now this isn’t the first time Mayer has showed his love for Thom and Radiohead… He covered “Kid A” once which actually sounded pretty good.
Anyway, this really isn’t a cover per se… Mayer was performing a new song called “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” and around the four minute mark, he busts out with a few lines from “The Eraser.”
Check it out if you’re bored like us.

Thom’s recent posting at DAS about the site www.theeraser.net has made us curious. What is it? Does it have anything to do with Radiohead? Is it a hint about the new album?
GP reader Will pointed out to us that the domain is registered to Chris Hufford, which you may know as Radiohead’s manager. The animation on the site seems to have changed from the original one that was seen yesterday. That can be viewed here.
(thanks to Will)
UPDATE: It’s possible that this site has something to do with Stanley Donwood’s new series of drawings called “London Views”. GP reader Chris writes:
The London-buildings-on-fire etc. thing is from a series of Stanley Donwood drawings called “London Views”, as mentioned in the Slowly Downward Taglibro. “At the time of writing my plan is to maßively enlarge these apocalyptic scenarios, & then cage them, much as the daily headlines for London’s Evening Standard are caged with a diamond lattice of galvanised wire.
“They will be on display from the 19th of May 2006 in a former emporium of sado-masochistic paraphenalia at 8 Greek Street, Soho, London; next-door to a pub called The Pillars of Hercules.”
Update again: Thom has announced that he will be releasing an album called “The Eraser”. Mystery solved! More info…
