Both Thom and Colin were interviewed by Radio 1’s Mark Radcliffe earlier today and talked about their progress so far with recording the new album. They’ve already recorded about 10 songs during their studio time in Los Angeles and are planning to head back there soon to resume recording.
Mark and Lard also nominated the band for the Halon Mens Wear LTD Music Awards but unfortunately, they didn’t win.

Yorke and Bjork
Thom will be featured in a documentary about Bjork called “Inside Bjork.” Here are the details:
Channel 5 has commissioned Endemol UK’s production arm Initial to produce a documentary. This documentary called ‘Inside Bjork’ details the career of one of the world’s most innovative artists, Bjork. It will be aired in September 2002.
With exclusive access to the star, Inside Bjork (1 x 60′) will chart Bjork’s unorthodox career from her early work in Icelandic acts Tappi Tikarrass, Kukl and The Sugarcubes to huge international acclaim for her solo work. The singer will reveal, for the first time, the secrets of her creative process by giving the viewer a look at her home and studio.
The Grammy and Brit Award winning artist is renowned for her distinctive sound and has admirers including Madonna, Prince, Bono and REM’s Michael Stipe. Inside Bjork will include contributions from superstars Elton John and Sean Penn, designers Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen, and fellow musicians Beck, Missy Elliot and Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Plus the documentary will controversially include an interview with ‘Dancer in the Dark’ director, Lars Von Trier. Read the rest…

Friends of the Earth
Radiohead are backing a FRIENDS OF THE EARTH campaign to raise environmental awareness in the run-up the forthcoming Earth Summit.
Friends of The Earth have set up an audio website at www.radioearthsummit.org, where they are asking people to submit messages prior to next month’s Earth Summit in South Africa.
The aim is to raise awareness of the pressing need to act on the issue of the environment.
Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has contributed a message, while the band have donated a rare video for ‘Motion Picture Sountrack’, as well as an audio stream of the song.
In his message, Yorke said: “The Earth Summit is the only opportunity we have left to address the hijacked free trade agenda of the WTO, to make the environment inextricably linked to poverty and the global divide of 1st and 3rd world, to make corporations accountable for the environmental effects of their business, wherever they choose to hide, and to make wealthy countries take responsibility for the impact their over-consumption has on the rest of the world.
“It is not good enough to preach about the trickle down effect of economic growth if your house is being washed away, your child has skin cancer, you can’t get clean water and the weather is changing beyond recognition, forever.”
Radiohead are currently working on a new album, and will premiere songs from the record on a tour of Portugal and Spain later this month.
