You can hear a clip of the Luka Bloom cover of “No Surprises” here. Here are some comments made by Bloom:

“People ask me if I have heard their new CD. I heard a few pieces on the radio and I’m not really interested. I respect the decisions and choices made by every artist, and whether or not I like the result is irrelevant. I just like songs. I think Thom Yorke is a magnificent writer. He has written some brilliant songs and Radiohead is a great band. No Surprises is a very beautiful, very sad song. It was not easy to catch the power acoustically. Thom Yorke sings it in a very intense way and I felt it was a real challenge to achieve that same feeling using just the acoustic guitar. But I like such a challenge. Records these days are so full of production gadgets that you have to listen many times to hear the good songs. I wanted to see if I could turn a Radiohead song into a Luka Bloom song.”

{thanks to Gerry}

Tickets for the September 11 show in Berlin can be bought at http://www.getgo.de or http://www.shownet.de. {thanks to Bj?rn}

Canal+ Concert on MTV

MTV USA (yes, USA!) will be showing the Canal+ concert Radiohead recorded last April on June 5 at 10:30pm EST/PST.
You can now read the review of yesterday’s show at the Rock am Ring Festival in Germany.

From Capitol Records:
June 5th marks the arrival of not only Radiohead’s 5th album, Amnesiac, but the launch of the “soon to be world famous” GooglyMinotaur. Befriend him by adding his name to your instant message buddy list. He’s got the 411 on Radiohead past, present and future. But, that’s not all… he’ll challenge you with Radiohead trivia, hangman and more. Remind friends of the minotaur’s quintessential Amnesiac existence by collecting all four of his buddy icons and swapping them.

Plus, Radiohead is being crowned “Yahoo! Band of the Month” for June. The inauguration begins with an auction for front row seats to see the band on the first leg of their tour. The bidding starts with Houston and Denver. We’ll keep you updated as Yahoo puts more hot tickets on the auction block. All proceeds from the auctions go to Amnesty International.

Stan “The Man” Donwood made a post on the now grey official message board that the “rebirth” of radiohead.com will happen on Monday. {thanks to electioneer}

There will be a pretty big interview with Thom Yorke in this Sunday’s LA Times. The story will appear in the Calendar section with Thom on the cover! You can read the interview now Online. Snippet:

“To me, electronic music is the new folk music ’cause it’s that easy to use and generate,” he explains. “I find the noises I can get out of my laptop and all the gear that we’ve got in the studio far more stimulating than [conventional] rock instrumentation.”

{thanks to Chris & Andy}

Ed was interviewed by Dave Fanning on 2FM ( www.2fm.ie) last Thursday night. The interview lasted about 45 minutes and was conducted over the phone. Ed made some very interesting comments.

Regarding Kid A :
* “We knew that Kid A was challanging but we wanted to try out different techniques. Musically, it was really the test of the band.”
Regarding Amnesiac :
* “I got frustrated with Knives Out, we had lost the disipline to do stuff that’s straight ahead.”
* “Kid A is cold and numbed, it’s linear, but Amnesiac engages you more, there’s more emotion to it.”
Regarding the new material they have written since Amnesiac :
* “We’ve all come back with a new vigour in the past 8 weeks. The guitars are out again. The new stuff has a Crazy Horse vibe to it, it’s amazing.”
* “It’s bad for your head to make an album over a year and a half, so what were going do next is 2 three week sessions, and then finish that stuff.”
{thanks to Gerry}

Here’s more press:
– Article at Ice Magazine. {thanks to Matt}
– Review of Amnesiac at Q Magazine. {thanks to Aaron}
– Review at Rolling Stone. {thanks to Chris}

Vote Killerbear?

Vote Killerbear? If you visit the city of Nottingham (UK) you may see little posters of the Radiohead bear with the words “Vote Killerbear”. They are apparently in a lot of locations as documented here. What are they for? Who put them up? Did the band have something to do with it? These are questions that we can’t answer. Maybe it has something to do with the upcoming elections on June 7.

The NME has given Amnesiac an 8 of 10 rating. {thanks to Chris}

The setlist and review for last night’s show in Verona, Italy is here.

Thom, Colin, and Jonny appeared on Mark and Lard yesterday live from Verona. Thom and Colin played Wheel of Misfortune in which Thom confessed that they had picked “The Tourist” for the encore in France only to discover that they couldn’t remember (talk about Amnesia!) the last chord to the the song! They discovered this about 2 minutes before they went on stage and couldn’t locate a copy of OK Computer so the song was ditched. You can listen to the Thom and Colin’s Wheel of Misfortune and the Yes No Game with Thom at the Mark and Lard Site. The full interview should be available Online soon. {thanks to Paul}

To hear Thom’s solo version of “Pyramid Song” from the same show, check out http://www.kornmuse.fr.st. Apparently Jonng was itching to play drums with a Yamaha Beatbox or something… 🙂 {thanks to Titof}

According to Pitchforkmedia, a “Knives Out” EP will be released in the UK on July 24. {thanks to Keegan}
