Radiohead: Be careful when buying NYC tickets for more than face value

A statement was just posted to Radiohead.com concerning the two NYC shows this week:

Some ticket holders for this week’s New York shows have chosen to re-sell one or both of their allocation on auction sites. Using a 2 ticket limit and will-call only access with ID, we have tried to ensure that more tickets go to the people who prefer to see the show than to cheat fellow fans with re-selling tickets at exorbitant prices.

For those of you who have to pay over the face value of the ticket, PLEASE make sure that you are certain you can get into the show before parting with your money. A ticket is only valid with its matching credit card details and the ID of the purchaser, after which the ticket holder will be escorted straight through.

On a lighter note, we played on The Colbert Report last night. It was funny.

Thom Yorke: Radiohead tour next year, Atoms for Peace album on the way

Thom Yorke and Gilles Peterson

Thom Yorke was a special guest tonight on Gille Peterson’s show on BBC Radio 1. During the two hour show, Thom revealed some interesting info which we’ve summed up for you below:

Most importantly, Radiohead will be touring next year. “The idea is to go out and play next year on and off during the year.” They’re talking about bringing Clive Deamer (Portishead) along too. Nice.

Atoms for Peace, Thom’s side project, have recorded a new album and he’s “finishing it with Nigel at the moment.” He said that touring last year “sparked something off, it was really exciting… It had really good energy.” Thom was unsure of the release date.

Other tidbits include Thom listening to Blue Lines in the car with his kids, how RHCP’s Flea has gotten him listening to Duke Ellington, how he doesn’t have a favorite track from The King of Limbs but loves to play “Bloom” live, that he’s only been to Brazil once and had the time of his life there, and that he’s just finished reading Hans Fallada’s Alone in Berlin and loved it. “It’s an amazing book.” Also, Thom recalls the night he deejayed at Low End Theory last March: He hadn’t slept for three days and didn’t want to show up to Low End Theory. It wasn’t until Flying Lotus sent him a picture of line outside that he decided to come because he feared a riot would take place if he didn’t.

It’s been understood that Radiohead will be touring at some point in the near future. Recently, Ed O’Brien mentioned that the band was booking tour dates for 2012 so it comes as no surprise to hear rumors about possible gigs. There’s a rumor floating around now that Radiohead will be headlining Coachella next April, according to the music trade publication, Hits Daily Double:

The same is true with high-profile festivals like Coachella, which has locked in No Doubt and Radiohead as two of next year’s headliners…

Once we know for sure, we’ll let you know. Stay tuned!

Ed O’Brien interview reveals 2012 tour, possible solo album

Ed O'Brien's nippleLast week, Ed O’Brien gave an interview to Argentinian website, Al Tuntún, as well as lost-pixel.net and revealed that Radiohead were booking tour dates at the moment for 2012. He was also asked about a solo album. “I’m writing songs,” he remarked. If true, this leaves Colin Greenwood as the only Radiohead member who hasn’t released a solo album.

Sorry, this is all the information we have. The full interview should be up soon at Al Tuntún.

Phil Selway hints at future Radiohead shows, releases new solo material

Radiohead drummer and all around good guy, Phil Selway, recently talked with BBC 6 Music about his recent solo work. During the interview, he hinted that Radiohead may be in for some live dates soon, saying that the band has been discussing doing more shows after their recent Glastonbury performance.

When asked whether the slot on the Park Stage had whetted their appetite for a potential tour he admitted it had.

“Absolutely that is what we are talking about at the moment, it felt exciting doing that and it felt like we had something else to offer musically.

“It just felt like a new lease of life in what we are doing, and we would like to see where that takes us.”

After the jump, you can listen to Phil’s interview and also learn more about his new EP release. Oh, and for good measure, we’ll throw in a video of Radiohead’s recent Glastonbury performance.
